national burn awareness week

From 6 – 12 May 2021, South Africans acknowledge National Burn Awareness Week. Because of the dedication to helping prevent burn injuries, Burnshield’s theme this year is electrical burns #NBAW Electrical Safety Around the Home and Office. The focus being on the alphabetical letters from A – Z on electrical safety, with the aim to help reduce the incidences of burn injuries and deaths.

#NBAW National Burn Awareness Week

The first and most critical aspect to learn about electricity is safety. Playing around with electricity can be dangerous, so make sure that you, your family and work colleagues know how to work with electricity safely. Early man relied on fire for the luxuries of light, heat, and cooking. Today, we take all these luxuries for granted. Electricity surrounds us. At the flick of a switch, a push of a button or the turn of a knob, we can have instant power. Electricity plays a huge part in our everyday lives. Whether it is at home, school, the local shops, or our workplace, our daily routines rely heavily on the use of electricity. The last two decades have seen an increase in communication as in the form of radio, television, e-mail, the Internet, etc, all due to smart devices we carry around with us.

Follow us daily @BurnshieldZA daily this National Burn Awareness Week 6 – 12 May 2021, for daily posts on the A – Z of electrical safety, burn treatment and prevention. #NBAW Electrical Safety Around the Home and Office
